Jon Moeller and Chris Hemsworth are not known to have a direct personal, family, or professional relationship. Moeller built his career at Procter & Gamble (P&G), while Hemsworth is an Australian actor best known internationally for playing Thor and for films including Extraction. The available primary sources do not document the two men working together, appearing in a joint campaign, or having a family connection.
There is, however, a genuine — and easily misunderstood — historical business overlap involving P&G, HUGO BOSS fragrances, and Hemsworth. P&G once controlled the worldwide fragrance license for HUGO BOSS products including BOSS Bottled. Jon Moeller was involved at senior-management level in P&G’s broader process of divesting that beauty business. The business transferred to Coty in 2016, and Hemsworth became the face of BOSS Bottled in 2017.
That chronology is the most useful explanation of how the names can be placed in the same corporate history without implying a direct relationship between the two men.

Who is Jon Moeller?
Jon R. Moeller is a longtime Procter & Gamble executive who joined the consumer-goods company in 1988. Before reaching its top job, he served in senior positions including chief financial officer, chief operating officer and vice chairman. P&G elected him president and CEO effective November 1, 2021.
His career is particularly relevant to the Hemsworth question because Moeller participated in P&G’s major portfolio restructuring during the period when the company decided to dispose of a large group of beauty businesses.
A 2016 SEC filing describing the background of the P&G-Coty transaction says P&G’s board discussed its overall corporate strategy with then-CEO A.G. Lafley and Moeller, who was chief financial officer. In February 2015, Moeller presented to the board the businesses management was interested in divesting, including P&G Beauty Brands. He subsequently provided further updates during the sale process.
Moeller later became P&G’s CEO, but his tenure at the company is now ending. On July 29, 2026, P&G announced that he had been serving as executive chairman and would leave its board effective July 31 and retire from P&G effective August 14, 2026. The company described his total service as spanning 38 years. Shailesh Jejurikar is now P&G’s chairman, president and CEO.
Who is Chris Hemsworth?
Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor whose international career is closely associated with his portrayal of Thor. Disney’s official material also identifies Extraction, Thor and The Avengers among the projects for which he is known.
His connection to BOSS is directly documented by HUGO BOSS.
On July 10, 2017, the company announced Hemsworth as the new face of BOSS Bottled, with its renewed “Man of Today” campaign scheduled to launch globally that September.
The relationship later expanded beyond fragrance. In January 2021, HUGO BOSS named Hemsworth its first global BOSS brand ambassador, saying he would front worldwide fashion campaigns planned for 2021 and 2022. Crucially, that announcement also confirmed that his BOSS Bottled collaboration had already been running since 2017.
The real overlap: P&G once managed the HUGO BOSS fragrance business
This is where the story becomes more interesting than a simple “they are unrelated” answer.
Before Chris Hemsworth became associated with BOSS Bottled, the fragrance business had been part of P&G’s beauty portfolio.
A Coty SEC registration statement filed on June 27, 2016, states that P&G Beauty Brands was the exclusive worldwide trademark licensee for HUGO BOSS fragrances. It specifically listed BOSS Bottled, HUGO Man, HUGO Woman, BOSS Pour Femme and BOSS THE SCENT.
P&G was simultaneously undertaking a major portfolio simplification. The same SEC filing records Moeller’s participation as CFO in discussions surrounding the company’s portfolio strategy and the proposed divestiture of P&G Beauty Brands.
The transaction ultimately moved the beauty operation out of P&G.
Coty announced the completion of its merger with the P&G Specialty Beauty Business in October 2016. Following the deal, Coty’s luxury fragrance portfolio included HUGO BOSS alongside names such as Calvin Klein, Gucci, Chloé and Marc Jacobs.
Then came Hemsworth.
HUGO BOSS announced him as the new BOSS Bottled face in July 2017 — roughly nine months after Coty completed the P&G beauty transaction.
The timeline makes the distinction clear
2014–2015: P&G begins reviewing and pursuing the divestiture of businesses including its beauty and fragrance operations. SEC records describe Moeller’s participation in the strategic and board-level process.
June 2016: An SEC filing identifies P&G Beauty Brands as the worldwide licensee for HUGO BOSS fragrances, including BOSS Bottled.
October 2016: Coty completes the combination with P&G’s specialty beauty business, bringing HUGO BOSS fragrances into Coty’s luxury portfolio.
July 2017: HUGO BOSS names Chris Hemsworth the new face of BOSS Bottled.
January 2021: Hemsworth’s relationship with BOSS expands when HUGO BOSS appoints him its first global BOSS brand ambassador.
The sequencing matters: Hemsworth’s documented BOSS Bottled partnership began after P&G’s beauty business had transferred to Coty.
Did Jon Moeller and Chris Hemsworth work together?
There is no reliable documentation establishing that they did.
The corporate records establish Moeller’s involvement with P&G’s beauty-business divestiture, and HUGO BOSS’s own records establish Hemsworth’s later BOSS Bottled campaign. They do not establish that Moeller selected Hemsworth, negotiated his endorsement agreement, participated in his campaign, or personally worked with him.
In fact, the documented dates point in the opposite direction: Coty completed the P&G beauty transaction in 2016, while Hemsworth’s BOSS Bottled appointment was announced in 2017.
It would therefore be misleading to describe Hemsworth as a P&G ambassador under Moeller or to portray the men as business partners.
Are Jon Moeller and Chris Hemsworth related?
There is likewise no credible documentation supporting a family relationship between them.
Nothing in the primary corporate material establishing Moeller’s career or the official HUGO BOSS and Disney material documenting Hemsworth’s career indicates such a relationship. More importantly, no reliable source reviewed for this article identifies one man as a relative of the other.
That should not be stretched into the stronger claim that the two have never met or could never have crossed paths privately. Public records cannot establish that. What can be said is that a claimed family connection, friendship, or established personal partnership is not supported by the documented record.
What connects their names, then?
The connection is best understood as a corporate-history chain rather than a relationship:
Jon Moeller → P&G → P&G Beauty Brands → HUGO BOSS fragrance license → Coty → BOSS Bottled → Chris Hemsworth
Moeller’s place in that chain belongs to the period in which P&G was restructuring and divesting its beauty portfolio. Hemsworth’s place comes afterward, when he became the public face of a fragrance business that had already moved outside P&G.
That distinction resolves the apparent mystery without inventing a partnership that the evidence does not support.
