Jessica Chastain and Masayoshi Son are prominent public figures, but they are not a publicly documented pair. No credible source located for this article establishes a personal, family, professional, or financial relationship between the Oscar-winning actor and producer and the founder of SoftBank Group.

There is, however, one legitimate point of overlap that can put their names in the same conversation: both have invested in professional soccer in the United States — separately. Chastain has been part of the Angel City FC ownership group, while Son was an investor in the group that created Inter Miami CF before being bought out in 2021. The clubs compete in different leagues, and the available records do not show Chastain and Son investing together.

That distinction matters because a search for “Jessica Chastain and Masayoshi Son” can otherwise suggest a relationship that the public record does not establish.

Who is Jessica Chastain?

Jessica Chastain is an American actor and producer whose work spans film, television and theater. Her major industry recognition includes the Academy Award for Actress in a Leading Role for her portrayal of Tammy Faye Bakker in The Eyes of Tammy Faye. The Academy recorded her win at the 94th Academy Awards on March 27, 2022.

Her career also extends behind the camera. Chastain launched Freckle Films in 2016, according to the production company’s official website. Freckle describes its mandate as developing material centered on women and underrepresented characters; Chastain is identified on the company site as its founder.

That production work is more relevant to understanding Chastain’s business activity than attempts to associate her with SoftBank. The official material reviewed from Freckle Films contains no indication that Masayoshi Son or SoftBank Group is a partner in the company.

Chastain’s connection to Angel City FC

Chastain also became involved in professional sports investment through Angel City FC, the Los Angeles club in the National Women’s Soccer League.

An Angel City announcement identifies Chastain alongside Uzo Aduba, America Ferrera, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria, Serena Williams and numerous former U.S. national-team players in the club’s founding investor group.

Her association with the ownership group was not merely an early announcement that disappeared from later club materials. When Angel City announced an agreement in July 2024 for Willow Bay and Bob Iger to become its new controlling owners, the club again listed Chastain among members of the broader ownership group. The same announcement distinguished those investors from the controlling ownership and board structure.

It is therefore more precise to describe Chastain as an Angel City investor/ownership-group member, rather than implying that she alone owned or controlled the club.

Who is Masayoshi Son?

Masayoshi Son is the founder and longtime leader of SoftBank Group Corp. SoftBank Group’s official biography, current as of June 24, 2026, identifies him as Representative Director, Corporate Officer, Chairman and CEO. It states that he founded Nihon SoftBank, the predecessor of the present SoftBank Group, in 1981.

His career has centered on technology and investment rather than entertainment production. SoftBank’s biography points to the group’s expansion into internet services, telecommunications and artificial intelligence, as well as major activities involving Alibaba, Arm and the SoftBank Vision Fund.

SoftBank’s 2026 annual-report material provides a useful time marker for Son’s current business focus. In his CEO message dated June 24, 2026, Son presents the company’s strategy around artificial superintelligence, or ASI, and its ambition to develop into a major AI platform provider. The page states that its information is current as of July 27, 2026.

Nothing in these official descriptions links Son’s SoftBank responsibilities to Jessica Chastain or Freckle Films.

Masayoshi Son was once an Inter Miami investor

Son does have his own well-documented connection to American professional soccer.

Major League Soccer announced that its Board of Governors had approved Masayoshi Son, Jorge Mas and Jose Mas as additions to the ownership group behind David Beckham’s proposed Miami expansion franchise. The wider group also included Beckham, Marcelo Claure and Simon Fuller.

That franchise became Inter Miami CF and began competing in MLS in 2020. Son’s ownership did not continue indefinitely. MLS later reported that David Beckham and brothers Jorge and Jose Mas had finalized the buyout of Marcelo Claure and Masayoshi Son.

This makes descriptions of Son as a current Inter Miami owner inaccurate. His investment belongs to an earlier period in the club’s history.

The soccer connection is real — but it is not a joint investment

Professional soccer is the most concrete factual overlap between Jessica Chastain and Masayoshi Son.

Chastain appears in Angel City FC’s investor and ownership records. Angel City plays in the National Women’s Soccer League and is based in Los Angeles. Son, meanwhile, participated in the ownership group behind Inter Miami CF of Major League Soccer, but his interest was later purchased by the remaining owners.

These were different clubs, different ownership groups and separate investments.

That history also provides a reasonable explanation for why the two names can occur near each other in content about well-known people investing in soccer. Such a co-occurrence should not be interpreted as evidence that they were business partners.

Did Jessica Chastain and Masayoshi Son work together?

There is no credible public documentation identified here showing that Jessica Chastain and Masayoshi Son have collaborated on a film, television production, SoftBank investment, technology venture or soccer club.

Their verified professional records instead point in different directions. Chastain’s documented business activity includes Freckle Films and Angel City FC, while Son’s includes SoftBank Group and his former participation in Inter Miami’s ownership group.

The absence of a documented collaboration should not be stretched into a claim that the two have never met or have no private acquaintance; public sources cannot establish that. What can be said is that they are not publicly documented as relatives, collaborators, business partners or co-investors.

Is Jessica Chastain connected to SoftBank?

The official materials reviewed from SoftBank Group, Freckle Films and Angel City FC do not document Chastain as a SoftBank executive, investor, partner or representative.

Likewise, Angel City’s ownership information names Chastain but does not identify Masayoshi Son as part of that ownership group.

The clearer picture is therefore straightforward: Jessica Chastain and Masayoshi Son are two independently notable figures whose separate sports investments create an indirect point of comparison, not evidence of a shared venture or personal relationship.
